County Resolution

At the September 16 meeting, New Hanover County Commissioners decided to move forward with exploring potential partners for NHRMC.

This was not a vote to sell the hospital – the resolution allows the county to accept proposals from other health systems and get more information to determine what is in the best interests of the community. The resolution establishes a Partnership Advisory Group to help develop the Request for Proposals, perform an initial evaluation of the responses and provide a recommendation to the Board of Commissioners based on the proposals. Public hearings will be held throughout the process to share information prior to another vote of the New Hanover County Commissioners.

This was not a vote to sell NHRMC. It would allow the county to accept proposals from other health systems. NHRMC and New Hanover County will continue to evaluate options for meeting the rapidly growing medical needs of the community while transitioning to the new demands of a changing healthcare industry.
