At its meeting July 2, members of the Partnership Advisory Group unanimously voted to recommend New Hanover Regional Medical Center pursue becoming part of Novant Health and expand its relationship with UNC Health and UNC School of Medicine. The group determined such a partnership could improve the health and well-being of the entire region.
The group cited the following reasons:
Full funding of a plan to provide the new services our rapidly growing community needs, improving access to healthcare for people across our region.
A robust charity care policy that raises qualification from 200 to 300 percent of the Federal Poverty Level, with 100% write off.
A proven track record for driving higher quality care at each of its affiliated hospitals.
Nationally recognized programs to eliminate disparities in care and improve health for all.
Achieved one of the lowest per member, per month costs for patients managed through its Accountable Care Organization when compared to other large system ACOs.
An established network of provider practices, support for independent physicians.
High employee engagement scores and a pledge to protect current NHRMC staff and grow jobs by building a regional hub in Wilmington.
A commitment to expand UNC Health and UNC School of Medicine’s relationship with NHRMC to offer more training for medical students and other health professionals.
A structure to allow local people to make the decisions most important to area residents with oversight from a community-based board of trustees and local representation on the Novant Health parent board.
Organizations deeply committed to their patients, communities and team members and a vision of achieving excellence for all.
